Dr. Nduka Otiono, Associate Professor and Director of the Institute of African Studies at Carleton University, is known for his literary works, especially creative writing. He spent most of his early work life as a journalist in Nigeria before moving to Canada. Now, he spends his time in the academic circle teaching, mentoring, writing and co-editing creative works. The poet turned 60 and had a party in Ottawa on April 20, 2024.. The launch of his new book, "Critical Perspectives on Nduka Otiono", was the toast of the party at the Jim Durrell Recreation Centre. The guests and family members from Academia across North America and Nigeria praised Dr. Otiono for his consistency in Cultural Studies and Literature in Africa, Postcolonial Studies, Media and Communication Studies, and Popular Culture.
