The High Commissioner of Nigeria to Canada, Adeyinka Asekun, celebrated Nollywood's tenacity and resilience, as movies from their stock now dominate Netflix and most television programs across the globe. He reiterates that the orange economy is one of the areas Nigeria is looking to connect with Canada. The Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, James Christoff, sent a goodwill message. It was a night for remarkable commentary on the role of the film industry and the need to fast-track the process of a co-production treaty between Nigeria and Canada. They observed a minute silence in honor of the late Biyi Bandele, a Nigerian novelist, playwright, and filmmaker who died on August 7, 2022. He was the director of the movie Elesin Oba, the King's Horseman, a new film in the Yoruba language of Nigeria coming to Netflix.
