It was a massive show of Excellence at the annual Ottawa Kwanzaa celebration on Saturday, December 30, at the Mosaic Conventional Centre.
With over 300 people in attendance, the hall was filled with dancers, singers, poets, and the inspiring Keynote Speaker, Hon. Jean Augustine, Grenada-born politician and the first Black-Canadian woman to serve as a federal Minister of the Crown and Member of Parliament.
Also in attendance was Rawlson King, the first-ever Black Canadian city Councillor.
Iafricavoices was on location for the video coverage of the beautiful evening for Jaku Konbit.
The Ottawa Kwanzaa painted a vibrant picture of Unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith. These seven principles form the bedrock of this beautiful celebration, as the principles come alive in extraordinary ways. It was a great way to end 2023 and welcome the new year with love and Unity!
